A Study Of Yunnan’s Cooperative Bank In Early Republic China(1942—1949)

Yunnan’ cooperative bank is one of the key parts in the history of Yunnan’s cooperative cause as well as a part of national cooperative movementin early Republic China. In anti-Japanese war, Yunnan shoulders the responsibility and mission of fighting against Japanese as China’s home front. The Kuomintang government establishes a new rural financial network based upon Yunnan’s cooperative bank and banks in each county of Yunnan in order to support the war and stabilize market as well as boom economy. This thesis systematically reviews the development history of Yunnan’ cooperative bank as well as studies the businesses and comments on it.This thesis includes three chapters. The first chapter focuses on the establishment of Yunnan’s cooperative bank. It discusses three aspects:background, establishment procedures and institution designs. The second chapter introduces the business of Yunnan’s cooperative bank. The business includes deposits, loans, actual products renting and exchange dealings etc. It reflects the working mechanisms of the cooperative bank. The third chapter comments on Yunnan’s cooperative bank based on the aforementioned two chapters. It reviews the functions, features and shortcomings of the cooperative bank.This thesis sorts out and summarizes related historical materials so as to restore the development track of Yunnan’s cooperative bank by using documentation method, chart analysis and comparative analysis and so forth.It helps the world to have a better understanding of Yunnan’s cooperative bank by studying Yunnan’s cooperative bank. As a result, it can set an example for today’s Rural Credit Cooperatives and building new socialist countryside in China.
