Analyses On The Problems Of Shantytown Transformation In Shanxi Province

With the sustainable economic development in our country, the urbanizationprocess is accelerated, the domestic residents living conditions and quality of life hasbeen greatly improved. But there is still a group to remain in existence, a part of thehousing difficulties of shanty town residents is representative among them. Shantytowns in our country are mostly produced in the planned economy era, in accordancewith the " first production then living" development ideas, residents’ housing needs areneglected, but only through a unit allocation or the self-built way to solve the problemof living, a large number of shanty towns was born. Today, most domestic shantytownsalready dilapidated, shabby, and accompanied by severe problems left over by history,already can’t satisfy the housing needs of residents, but also because of bad environmentand other factors which restrict the city development as a whole. As a result, localgovernments started to transform shanty towns, improve residents’ living condition,speed up urban development. Presesident Xi clearly put forward to strengthen turnshantytowns into new housing areas, and make the work become the social focus again.In2005, the revitalization of northeast old industrial base of the era background,our country started shantytown renovation project. As an important part of domesticgovernment-subsidized housing projects, turn shantytowns into new housing areas toimprove people’s living conditions, improve people’s living standard, improve the imageof the city and to speed up the pace of urban development has great historical andrealistic significance. As in China’s coal-rich province, most cities in Shanxi areresource-based cities, which formed a special development mode: cities are built due tocoal mining, and coal mining is the pillar industry of the city, too. As coal mine workersand their families living demands were not met, they can only through build housesthemselves or gathered together to live to solve the housing problems. As a consequence,lead to form a large amount of industrial and coal mine shantytowns, which furtherevolved into urban shantytowns under the background of the rapid development ofurbanization. In2006, to transform state-owned key coal shanty towns in ShanxiProvince as an opportunity to pull the province city of tents, and industrial and mining,coal mine tents and other kinds of shanty towns transformation unfolds. Along the way,now the shantytown renovation construction of Shanxi Province to what extent, whatnew development shantytowns, transformed what shantytowns, and what difficulties encountered, have been causing the attention of people.In this paper, in reference to the domestic and foreign turn shantytowns into newhousing areas, on the basis of relevant theoretical research, this paper expounds theconcrete connotation and classification of shanty towns, puts forward the reconstructionof shanty towns and the principle of different mode; Policy process for the modificationof the shanty towns in Shanxi Province in recent10years to do the overall review andcomb; Using time series method and transverse sections of the longitudinal analysis indifferent types of turn shantytowns into new housing areas around the city in ShanxiProvince and the status quo analyzed; Combined with the results of the analysis and thereality of social economic conditions, Shanxi Province, study shanty towns in ShanxiProvince the problems existing in the transformation process, and analysis theadvantages turn shantytowns into new housing areas, Shanxi Province, and perfectrelevant countermeasures and Suggestions are put forward.
