The Formation, Development And Inspiration Of London International Financial Center

International financial center is the natural result of a certain stage of development ofworld economy, a symbol of comprehensive national power of a country or a region,and as while as the important marking of improving and completed financial system.With the rapid development of Chinese economy, the conditions for development ofinternational financial center are ripe gradually, and the voice for establishment of aninternational financial center has been rising increasingly. In1992, Shanghai firstlyproposed the establishment of an international financial center, and make it as thenational strategy in twenty-first Century. In2008, Beijing raised to build the city as afinancial center with international influence. In the meanwhile, the competition betweenleading international financial centers is becoming more and more intensive.If start from the earliest Medici bank family in Italy Florence, the changes ofinternational financial center has already hundreds of years’ history dating back toRenaissance, but the first real international financial center is London after the firstindustrial revolution. In the past more than one hundred years, competition ofinternational financial centers like a war without smoke of gunpowder, each country orregion wants to have their own discourse power in world economy in the future. Historyis like a mirror, make us wise and has the reference value to today. There is no doubt auseful reference for the establishment of China’s international financial center throughoverview the formation and development of London international financial center,which is the most important international financial center in the world.This paper is divided into five parts，the first section describes the purpose andmeaning for study of London international financial center；The second part makes anintroduction for the historical background of the formation of London financial centerfirstly，and then outline the developing process from a domestic financial center to aninternational financial center；The third part review the history of recession andrecovery for London international financial center after World War Ⅱ; The fourthsection described London financial center under the condition of globalization；The lastpart of the paper summarizes the inspirations as six aspects for China to establish aninternational financial center, which we draw from London, and prospects for China’sinternational financial center in the future.
