Since the reform and opening up, the rapid development of Chinese economy,which greatly enhanced the national status, changed the country’s image andimproved people’s living standards. Nevertheless, there are still many problems inChinese people’s livelihood, especially the urgent need to make adjustments in socialsecurity as soon as possible. A country’s economy can only be reflected in the totalamount of the country’s overall economic development momentum, while the socialsecurity system of the country is much closer to people’s lives, and therefore betterreflects the overall strength of the country. In many aspects of social security, pensioninsurance is the top priority. Social security pension system recognized the largestexpenditure item. A healthy social security and even the soundness of the whole socialsecurity system largely depend on whether the pension system is running well.This article discussed China’s pension insurance problems theoretically andpractically. In the first chapter, the concepts, meanings, features and differencesbetween pension insurance and other commercial insurances are discussed for thepurpose of putting more emphasis on the specialness of pension insurance. In thesecond chapter, it is mainly talking about relevant theories from the perspective ofMarxist economics and Western economics. By comparison, it is expected to find outthe theory suitable for our country to draw on under the current economic situation.On this basis, the third chapter focuses on the establishment, development, adjustmentand improvement of Chinese pension insurance historically, which helpfully explainsthe current situation and problems of Chinese pension insurance system in theChapter IV. In Chapter V, a comparison made between different countries ismentioned horizontally. In the final chapter, the author comes up with some views aswell as suggestions regarding to the improvement and development of China’spension insurance system.
