Critical Success Factors Of Urban Rail Transit BT Projects

Many local governments use BT model for construction of urban rail transit projects to ease the enormous pressure from urbanization construction funds transport congestion and the increasing threat from environmental problems caused by traditional transport methods. With the widely use of BT model for construction of urban rail transit projects, the research about BT project had sprung. However, study about the success of the project is constrained to one key factor with ignorance of joint effect of key elements on success. BT projects are confronted with problems like huge funds for construction, technical difficulties and plenty of risk factors. Both BT project sponsor and contractors hope that the projects to achieve success ultimately. Therefore, exploring what factors can affect the success of urban rail transit BT project is the current problem to be solved and the emphasis of this paper.The paper adopts the literature research and investigation method. First, the benchmark of success is set up and define the study object as success of contractors. Then, the paper make a list of key factors of project and extract a preliminary list inventory impact factors for urban rail transit BT project will get a preliminary list of impact factors with consideration of main features of urban rail transit BT projects.. Next, the method of questionnaire survey is adopted to confirm preliminary impact factors, and the analysis of the questionnaire results is followed to obtain the critical success factors. According to research the path of projects success, the paper has put the planning path of project success into critical success factors, success indicators and success outcome. And the paper builds a model of initial critical success factors which is fitted and corrected to achieve the final critical success factors model. Finally, an empirical analysis is conducted on the Shenzhen Metro Line5BT project. The analysis of interaction among the critical success factors of BT project validate the adaptability of the critical success factors.Conclusions and implications of theoretical and empirical analysis are summarized as follows:i) We obtains the critical success factors of urban rail transit BT project which is classified by four dimensions of21critical success factors. According to the fitting results of the model, this questionnaire has good predictive results, ii) Cumulative contribution rate by factor analysis obtained its normalization, simply draw all the key success factors of heavy weighting factor, which "Contractor factors" weight maximum, reaching35.74%.
