Hewlett-Packard is the world’s largest information technology (IT) companies, by the end of October31,2011, HP’s net revenue exceeded$127.2billion, and in the Fortune Global500of2011, Hewlett-Packard ranked No.28. HP’s three business groups lead the industry trends in a number of core technologies, including:information products group, imaging and printing group, and enterprise computing and services group, just the minicomputer business group. This article based on HP minicomputers group environment as the object of study, take use of company strategy management theory as the basis, combines the field of strategic management analysis methods and the working experience of the author served on HP minicomputers group, proposes the development strategy of HP minicomputer group development strategy.This article describes the overall state of Hewlett-Packard, then introduced the overall of minicomputer business group as one of the HP three groups, and describes HP’s major competitors, products, strengths and weaknesses and so on. Through analyzing the internal circumstances and external situations of Hewlett-Packard, the research article proposed HP’s minicomputer group development strategy. In the increasingly competitive market circumstances, formulate and study out the development strategies of HP’s minicomputer group. If HP keep tapping on the use of its advantages, and enhancing its core competitiveness, it will get great practical significance.This article takes use of SWOT analysis, PEST analysis and practical case studies and other means, analyzes HP’s competitive environment, to determine the core competencies and key competitive factors. In a comprehensive overview of the relevant strategies management theories and based on the usage of macroscopic and microscopic study, the article combines internal and external progressive, analytical methods, then summarizes the HP minicomputer Group’s current predicament and the system’s development strategy, selects out the best development strategy for HP mid-range computer group.
