Abstract/Summary:
The issue on the relationship between the international transfer of technologyand enterprise technological innovation has been the focus of international tradeconcerns. With the advent of firm heterogeneity theory, the research perspective ofthis problem has shifted from a macro level to micro level. This paper attempts toanalyze the following question within enterprise level:(1) How to evaluate the totalfactor productivity of Chinese enterprises?(2)What impact does the internationaltechnology transfer do to the technological innovation of home enterprise?(3)Whatrole does the institutional factor play in the R&D decision-making process? On theseissues, the following aspects were studied in this paper. The first part of this paper, we try to use the panel data of2008-2012to comparethe total factor productivity present situation in31regions and39industries, andfound that there are obvious differences in productivity level within different regionsand industries. In addition, we try to estimate the TFP of92732enterprises with the2004-2007panel data, which used the method combines parametric andsemi-parametric. The estimation of Levinsohn-Petrin as a dimension of heterogeneityis introduced into empirical model of the relationship between enterprise ofinternational technology transfer and technological innovation. The second part of thispaper is the empirical research on the relationship between international technologytransfer and enterprise technology innovation. The foreign direct investment andinternational trade have been leaded into the analysis framework. In addition, we tryto instruct the financial indicators to measure the situation of firm external finance. The paper investigated the innovation path selection of Chinese local enterprises witha probit model, which the issue of heterogeneity in total factor productivity, ownership type, industry and region has been considered fully. The empirical results showed that: there were significant differences in the effectof technological innovation decisions by different ways of international technologytransfer. The foreign direct investment do obvious “suppression” on the thetechnological innovation of Chinese local enterprises, which is very different from themacro analysis conclusions. In contrast, international trade do obvious “incentives” toChinese enterprises innovation, especially by export. From the point of view ofenterprise ownership, private enterprise is the subject of technological innovation, in contrast, foreign enterprise has no passion for technological innovation.
