Rural tourism based on agricultural economy is the main agricultural tourism pr oduct for urban residents to understand the rural pastoral scenery and folk custom s. Taking the rural resources to promote rural tourism activities to add values.The d evelopment status of rural tourism of the main 11 scenic spots in Kaiyang County was investigated by field visits and questionnaire survey. Explored rural tourism d evelopment prospect and the existing problems, and put forward the reasonable pro posals.This study showed that rich humanistic environment and natural condition had formatted colorful rural tourism resources in Kaiyang County, such as folk custo m, festival culture and pastoral scenery. It has developed many rural tourism proje cts, such as village clubs or inns, cave exploration, canyon rafting and hot spring res ort and so on, and built the tourism brand as "summer capital, fairy land". In the futur e development it should change the rural tourism management style which from independent body to scale, continue to dig deeper rural cultural connotation, create special brand projects, maintain the ecological landscape and in order to formul ate the rural tourism development model with characteristics of environmental an d ecological civilization, avoid occurring siege effect and ensure the sustainable d evelopment of rural tourism in Kaiyang County. The results of this study will pr ovide a valuable reference to develop tourism resources and tourist attractions fur ther and draw up new rural tourism development plan for Kaiyang county.
