With the development and construction of urbanization, our cities gradually expand into rural areas, which leads the emergence of numerous land-lost peasants. As the famers’means of production, land plays a important role in farmers’ life. Under the long-term influence of urban-rural dual structure, social security system in the rural areas is less perfect than that in urban areas. So land is not only the main source of farmers’ income but also the social security of farmers. Therefore, the loss of land will inevitably lead to greater impact on farmers, especially for the farmers who treat farming as their main means of livelihood. They lost their land will necessarily be accompanied by the risk of unemployment and the choice of reemployment.Despite the difficulty in employment and high unemployment of land-lost peasants have caused widespread concern in academia, the employed land-lost peasants haven’t been paid much attention to. I investigated in S community, Macheng City Hubei Province, and conducted in-depth interviews with local land-lost peasants, trying to find out land-lost peasants’ differences in the choice of employment and its influencing factors. Through the investigation, I found that the land-lost peasants didn’t have the serious employment problem, because most of them become the assembly line workers of land expropriation unit through employment settlement. However, the land-lost peasants’ choice of employment still showed a significant difference, there are mainly three kinds of types: accept the government’s job placement, refuse the job placement and find jobs on their own, accept job placement first and then seek for other jobs. What leads to the difference? There are many factors. But from the aspect of land-lost peasants, age, the concept of employment, human capital and social capital are the key factors. The land-lost peasants of different ages, who have different concept of employment, human capital and social capital can get different choices when seeking for jobs. Consequently, updating the concept of employment, improving their human capital and social capital are good for land-lost peasants to get more and better choices of employment.
