Empirical Research On Industrial Competitiveness Of Manufacturing Industry Of Liaoning Province

Since the reform and opening up, along with the global economic integration and regional economy tending to be centralized, the competition among countries is becoming more and more common, the competitiveness of the industry has attracted more and more attention of scholars at home and abroad. Industrial competitiveness have important influence on the economic development level of a country or region. At the same time, the manufacturing industry of our country not only to show an important role on manufacturing exports and domestic employment, but also make important contributions to the development of our national economy in other ways.It has become the main force of China’s national economic development.Therefore,studies on the competitiveness of manufacturing industry have important implications to the development of China’s manufacturing industry and positive significance on China’s economic and social development. But it is not difficult to find that the development level of manufacturing industry in various regions of Chinese is not very balanced,so the research of manufacturing industry competitiveness is more targeted and representative.Since 2003, the central implementation of the revitalization of old industrial bases in Northeast China, Liaoning Province, the level of manufacturing industry is developing rapidly, having an irreplaceable position in the northeast.But in the terms of competitiveness of manufacturing industry and the overall economic level,it is undeniable that there are obvious the gaps in these areas in Liaoning Province comparing with the developed provinces and regions. Therefore the analysis and evaluation of the competitiveness of manufacturing industry in Liaoning Province, the construction of Liaoning province’s manufacturing industry competitiveness evaluation index system have a important practical significance.It also provides the basis for scientific and reasonable suggestions for Liaoning province to enhance competitiveness of manufacturing industry and promote the development of manufacturing industry in Liaoning province and even the whole economic level.This paper elaborates the current situation of the development of manufacturing industry in Liaoning Province, then selects 3 indicators(Index of Revealed Comparative Advantage, International Market Share and Overall Labor Productivity),by horizontal and longitudinal comparisons between Liaoning province and other two northeastern provinces and the industry in Liaoning Province, it points out the limitation of the competitiveness of industry in Liaoning province.Finally, the study uses the factor analysis method including 28 manufacturing industries in Liaoning Province, concludes with the manufacturing industries with advantages and disadvantages.At the same time, it ranks the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry of Liaoning Province in 12 years, and then analyzes the competitiveness of manufacturing industry in Liaoning province.Finally, combining with the empirical results, it provides suggestions for Liaoning Province to enhance the competitiveness of manufacturing industry.It also provides some evidence and reference for policy making.
