With the deepening of economic globalization,more and more companies are clearly aware of the need of cross-border operations to achieve the optimal allocation of factors of production around the world.The multinational companies obtain maximum profits through the establishment of subsidiaries abroad. And a challenge in the implementation of cross-border operations for the multinational companies in the first is how to manage their own subsidiaries under the circumstances that the culture of the host country is different from the cultural context in the home country.In the face of this challenge,on the one hand,if the multinational companies can successfully implement cross-cultural management,the multinational companies can achieve the optimal allocation of factors of production around the world,they can also take full advantage of the strategic resources of the host country in order to obtain greater competitive advantage to achieve the goal of profit maximization;on the other hand,if the multinational cross-cultural management suffered setbacks and even failures,which will lead multinational companies to "Waterloo" in overseas markets,which will not only decrease the profitability of multinational companies,but may even lead to failure in the cross-border operations of multinational companies.Therefore, the theoretical study of cross-cultural management, especially in-depth case study of the success and failure of cross-cultural management are theoretical basis and practical guideline for Chinese enterprises to successfully achieve the strategy goal of the cross-border operation and the effective implementation of cross-cultural management.Based on this,on the occasion of Shanghai Disneyland theme park opening in 2016,this article analyzes successes and failures of Disney theme parks’ cross-cultural management in different cultural backgrounds and provides a positive reference for Shanghai Disneyland theme park cross-cultural management.The content of this paper includes five parts.Firstly,it elaborates the background and significance of this paper,describes the current research on the cross-cultural management and points out the research framework and content,as well as innovative methods and shortcomings;secondly,it proposes the theoretical basis of cross-cultural management,primarily introducing concepts and content of cross-cultural management; thirdly,this article makes objective presentation of Disney’s theme parks,including its basic situation of cross-cultural management in the course of overseas operations.Based on this,this article analyzes the effect of cross-cultural management of overseas Disney theme park,summed up the lessons and successful experience in the cross-cultural management;then this article studies the cultural environment of Shanghai Disney theme park and the cultural differences between China and America;Finally,according to the analysis of Disneyland Paris’ s cross-cultural management failures and Tokyo Disney theme park’s and Hong Kong Disney theme park’s cross-cultural management successes,combined with the cultural environment of Shanghai Disneyland theme park construction,proposes cross-cultural management countermeasures and suggestions to Shanghai Disneyland theme park and makes future prospects.
