Tourism industry bring the destination with huge social impacts, environment impacts, economic impacts and policy impacts, so people pay more attention to the tourism impacts and sustainable tourism development. The tourism area life cycle and the tourism carrying capacity theory provide the sustainable tourism development with evaluation tools, management tools and governance tools, so the research on the relation between tourism area life cycle and the tourism carrying capacity is very importance to improve destination revolutionary paths, to explain the temporal and spatial environment of tourism development and to warn early the environmental threats. The first part is literature review, which includes tourism area life cycle theory, tourism carrying capacity theory, path dependence and coevolution theory. The second part is to research the evolution mechanism of life cycle of tourism carrying capacity by using dynamics of path dependence and coevolution. The life cycle of tourism carrying capacity will evolute because that the interaction and interplay between subsystem of carrying capacity take shape the path dependence of tourism system, thus the co-evolution mechanism leads to non linear development of the tourism carrying capacity. The coevolution behavior is reflected by the adjusting and supporting mechanism of the tourism carrying capacity. The third part is to research governance path of the periodic evolution of the tourism carrying capacity. The last part is a case study, which make clear that periodic evolution mechanism of the tourism carrying capacity is the fundamental reason of the sustainable development of tourism industry.
