The social productive force has developed rapidly because of the emergence of industrial civilization, and the ability of using natural by human beings has been further improved. But since the 1970’s, humans began to use the earth overload and the biological resources and energy had been consumed excessively, thus deteriorating the ecological environment. The most worrying is the global warming. In the 1980’s, the climate warming has been widespread concerned. The existing research shows that the land use change has become the second largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. Land not only provides space for human social activities, but also provides a natural material base for regional development. Changing the way of land use and promoting the low-carbon and the intensive use of land is the key of sustainable land use in the current. As the only deputy provincial city in central,Wuhan is not only the comprehensive reform pilot area of resource-saving and environment-friendly, but also is the pilot city of "low-carbon city". Wuhan should make the resource conservation, environment friendly and low-carbon life as the goals of city development. Therefor, this article dynamic analyzes of land use in Wuhan city with the calculation of land use carbon emissions and the model of ecological footprint, then put forward the better measures to solve the problems. Last we have three conclusions:(1) The carbon emissions of land use increases in Wuhan in 1996-2012, especially in the 2002-2006. However, compared with the carbon emissions, the carbon absorption of land use is relatively stable and the effect is small, it results the increase of net carbon emissions. As the intensity of carbon emission is significantly greater than carbon absorption, so the pressure of reducing carbon emissions is very high in Wuhan.(2) Based on the ability of carbon emission and the carbon absorption, inspecting the carbon footprint with the calculation of land use carbon emissions and the model of ecological footprint. Through the improvement of ecological footprint model, calculating the ecological footprint within the carbon footprint and the ecological capacity. The results show that the per capital ecological footprint increases in 1996-2012, while the per capital ecological capacity declines as a whole in Wuhan city. Reduce the carbon footprint depends on contracting the carbon emissions and protecting the carbon absorption land.(3) We select the Gray system to forecast the per capital ecological footprint and the per capital ecological capacity in Wuhan in 2013-2020. The results show that the per capital ecological footprint increases year by year, while the per capital ecological capacity is decreasing. It results the ecological deficit is increasing. In conclusion, the status of the regional sustainable development is not optimistic in Wuhan city. Therefore Wuhan should adjust the structure of land use and control the expand of construct land. Then transform the way of economic development and implement the strategy of low-carbon economy. What’s more, pushing on the construct of ecological civilization and raise the ecological effectiveness of the land use. At last, we should transfer the ecological pressure reasonably and release the load of the area.
