Research On The Social Security Of Landless Peasants

With the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization in China, a lot of land resources, especially arable land, are expropriated for urban construction, industrial development and other projects, a large number of farmers have been forced off their land to become landless peasants. However, because of the dual structure of urban and rural areas, landless peasants are in a embarrassing situation of "no land to farm, no post of employment, no qualification for basic living allowances", faced with a series of social security problems of life, pension, health care, employment, etc., which is not conducive to the construction of a harmonious society. In recent years, the state attaches great importance to issues concerning agriculture, countryside and farmers, and rural social security has also been improved. But social security problem of landless peasants has not been effectively resolved. The landless peasants become a vulnerable group due to such problems as low compensation standards for land acquisition, low level of social security, and lack of employment.etc. Therefore research on the social security of landless peasants is of great significance for the maintenance of their legitimate rights and interest, safeguard social stability and achieve a harmonious society.This paper employs such research methods as literature study, interviews and surveys, and comparative study, taking social security issues of the landless peasants in Kuiwen district of Weifang city as the research object. Through the study of social security status of landless peasants in Kuiwen district, it tries to find the problems on social security of landless peasants, analyzes the causes for the problems, and proposes some suggestions on social security problems of landless peasants in Kuiwen district based on summary and analysis of social security experience of domestic and international landless peasants. It may provide some references for the effective resolution of social security problems of landless peasants in Kuiwen district.This paper includes seven chapters. The first chapter describes the background and significance, research status, content and methods. The second chapter introduces the concepts and theories of social security for landless peasants, providing a theoretical basis for this study. Chapter three analyzes the current situation of social security for landless peasants in Kuiwen district, through questionnaires and interviews. The fourth chapter analyzes the problems and causes of social security for landless peasants in Kuiwen district. The fifth chapter describes the practical experience of developed countries and advanced regions in solving the problem of landless peasants’ social security. Chapter six proposes some suggestions on solving landless peasants’social security problems in Kuiwen district, combining the above-mentioned analysis results. Chapter seven makes a summary.
