Nowadays, the new technological change and innovation have a great influence on development of traditional industries. With the arrival of mobile Internet and 4G, the traditional business product of China’s telecommunication industry has received the unprecedented challenge by new business products, such as message business which is the past glory business is declining. Therefore, the communication operators should face to cope with the challenges of mobile Internet effectively, innovate the traditional business, and seek the new development of the industry.Hunan Unicom’s short message service(SMS) also has a big hit by mobile Internet, and it is shrinking. A lot of new alternative products is emerging. Hence restudied the market positioning and marketing combination strategy of the SMS business is urgent. This article analysis the traditional SMS business how to deal with the impact of the new 4G products from the perspective of manager of Hunan Unicom, and further study the traditional SMS business how to comply with the development of the mobile Internet.This article firstly comparison and analysis the innovation measures of SMS business of telecommunication operators from many countries; Secondly, we adopt literature review study and case study to analysis hunan unicom SMS business; Then analyze and compare the advantages and disadvantages between instant communication products and Hunan Unicom SMS business; Finally we research the development of Hunan Unicom in the 4G era from innovation function, innovation profit mode and innovation promotion way. It will help the SMS business to find a new position in this new 4G era.
