Research On Urban Agriculture In Beijing

Via analysis of its origin, background, profound meaning and function, the article aims to grasp the common law of urban agriculture, thus to do some research on the urban agriculture in the capital city, provide some lessons for the theory and practice of urban agriculture in our country.This emerging field involves a wide range of issues which can be extremely complexes. The urban agriculture is usually limited in the urban area in the developed countries. In our country, the concept was introduced and the practice appeared in the beginning of 1980 s, which firstly budded in Shanghai located in the Yangtze River Delta, Shenzhen located in the Pearl River Delta, Beijing located in the Circum Bohai Region. In the practice, it is usually divided into three levels: basic, high and deep.From 1983 to 2013, the development of urban agriculture in Beijing went through three stages: suburban agriculture, city agriculture and multi-function urban agriculture, which can only produced the agricultural products in the beginning, however, now has converted into the synthesis of employment and income increasing, environment conservation, tour and recreation, cultural inheritance. Basing on the real cases which are Keyelong Tour and Recreation Agriculture, Dongsheng Group Hi-tech Demonstration Agriculture, “Modern City Farm” Eastern-suburb Farm and Yanxi Town “Never-sleep Valley” Tour Agriculture, the article reveals the development track and current situation of the urban agriculture in Beijing, puts forward the reform of the agriculture structure and expands the function system of urban agriculture on the basis of the current situation and developing plan of Beijing society and economy, thus to build a perfect modern agriculture system and develop the characteristic agriculture according with the regional features of this city. Meanwhile, the complementary spatial layout of the downtown, suburbs, outer suburbs and neighboring regions in Tianjin and Hebei with their own characteristics should be built. In practice, we should try to solve problems and limitations well on market, government, organization of peasants, operation of agricultural industrialization and technology, build multi-level urban agriculture market system, emphasis the service function of government, innovate on the financing and investing mechanism, make full use of the function of agricultural industrialization organization.
