As an important means to solve energy and environmental issues, electric vehicles industry has a broad prospects. At present, Chinese electric vehicle industry exists following questions:high product prices, weak market demand, a lack of technology dominant design and other issues, how to marketization and commercialization needs further exploration. Business model innovation is an important means to achieve rapid development of the industry. Therefore, this paper analyzed a variety of business models of Chinese electric vehicle business ecosystem from a perspective of business ecosystem is of great theoretical and practical significance.This paper selected four typical cities(Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing, Hefei)as a case study, combined social network analysis and cross-case comparison analysis, explored the formation process of the business ecosystem from a dynamic perspective. Firstly, it introduced and analyzed the research of business ecosystem, stakeholders, business model innovation based on predecessors, summarized the strengths and shortcomings of the literature, and then put forward the contents of this paper. Secondly, it had a systematic description of the development of Chinese electric vehicle industry, divided it into industrial budding exploration period, industry initial incubation period, industrial development period, and analyzed the key stakeholders’performance in the stages of development. Thirdly, based on the theories, this paper had in-depth study of business ecosystem of all the cities from a dynamic point of view which starting from the business ecosystem stakeholders, including the industrial foundation (OEM manufacturers and key components manufacturers), operating mode (operating providers), infrastructure (government and operators), demonstration of new energy vehicle market situation (consumers), mainly supportive policies of new energy vehicles (government). Fourthly, based on four business models, it analyzed the "value creation" and "value capture" mechanism of business ecosystem in "construction-management" two-stage process, compared business models of four-city electric vehicle industry through cross-case analysis methods. Finally, this paper proposed findings and recommendations based on the full text.
