Elimination of the urban-rural gap and achieving integrated development of urban and rural is the essential requirement of Marx’s idea about realizing socialist. Marx believed that the division of work is the direct reason of urban and rural’s separation. Specifically, they play different roles in the social division of labor. Rural areas focus on rural agriculture, while urban areas is concentrate on industries’ development. Therefore, from the perspective of the division of labor, it is necessary to distribute urban and rural industries rationally and achieve industry’s balanced layout nationwide. Marx believed that the root cause of urban-rural separation is development level of productive forces at a certain stage. Therefore in order to solve the problem of urban and rural separation fundamentally, we must vigorously develop the productive forces and promote economic development to achieve a qualitative leap.Compared with western countries, China’s industrialization started late. Industrial upgrading and transformation process is relatively slow. Therefore, it is necessary to analyse the problems in the development of urban and rural industry combined with China’s specific national conditions. From the early socialist construction, China’s industrialization construction was lack of autonomy and innovation. Advanced equipment and technology in industrial production is mostly imported from western countries. Dependence from the beginning of industrial development and the long-term policies of industrial priorities and urban bias lead to the disconnection between urban and rural industries. On the contrary, western countries began the process of industrialization from the first industrial revolution. Crucial inventions and technological innovation promoted some old capitalist countries’industrialization develop rapidly. Their comprehensive national strength was enhanced, thus helping them become the central nation among the dependency system. Developed industry, industry’s feeding back agriculture and perfect social welfare policy helped the developed countries avoid the gap. The most important lessons we can learn from developed countries is that we should get rid of the dependency system and change the situation of being the edge. Reviewing the developing process of the developed countries, we will find that continuous creation and invention is the primary reason why developed countries can dominate the world economy. Therefore, to get rid of dependency relationship, we need to develop independent and innovative economy.Industry development is the main reflection of urban and rural productivity development level. Combined with dependent development and the problems of industrial development, the article researches urban-rural relation from the industry perspective, and tries to find out a suitable way for China’s urban and rural industrial development.
