With the rapid development of economy, the energy impact on economic development and environmental pollution caused by energy consumption have been paid more and more attention. In order to adapt the current development environment, economic development requires constant adjusting and upgrading of industrial structure. Consequently it will impact on energy consumption.This thesis ranks industries in Dalian from 2001 to 2011 by the factor analysis method. Then it chooses predominant industries and analyses the change of these industries. The result indicates that the oil processing industry and the general equipment manufacturing industry are always in the predominant position and the transportation equipment manufacturing will in the leading position. Through analyzing the information on energy consumption, this thesis discovers that in the energy consumption structure of Dalian’s industry, the proportions of electricity, heat power and natural gas consumption are rising constantly, the proportions of oil consumption is declining gradually and the proportion of coal consumption is relatively stable. Therefore, the adjustment and upgrading of industrial structure promotes the development of low-emission energy consumption. This thesis selects 13 leading industries as the research object from the factor analysis results. Building the panel data model with data of industrial output and energy consumption. The data are selected according to records availability for the 2006-2012 period in Dalian’s statistical yearbooks. The energy consumptive data are composed of total energy consumption, coal consumption, oil consumption, natural gas consumption, electricity consumption and heat power consumption. This thesis studies the energy consumptive characteristics of each industry and consumptive characteristics of different types of energy by panel data model. Then analyzing the partial results of the panel data analysis by grey correlation analysis method to do the further research.This thesis presents 4 conclusions. First, the adjustment and upgrading of industrial structure has promoted the development of general equipment manufacturing, transportation equipment manufacturing industry and other leading industries with high added value and low-emission. It has caused the rose of the proportions of electric power, heat power and natural gas consumption in energy consumption structure. Second, the adjustment and upgrading of industrial structure has reduced the economic status of oil processing industry. It has caused the decline of the proportion of crude oil consumption in energy consumption structure. Third, the development of other industries has promoted coal consumption, but the decrease of economic status of production and supply industry of electricity and heat power has suppressed rising of coal consumptive proportion. Last, the adjustment and upgrading of industrial structure has slowed down the growth of total energy consumption.
