Rural areas provide labor and consumer market for urban economy, also providing the non-market value, etc. Rural value for farmers, is of great significance for the analysis of the urbanization, rural industrialization and protection. The assessment of rural value is mainly the farmers’ cognition of rural livelihood value, market value, potential value and non market value, domestic and foreign scholars on the value assessment of rural research work has been done a certain amount, but because of the lack of a comprehensive consideration of the rural value, the theoretical framework and empirical evaluation on the basis of the theory is not comprehensive enough, there is a clear need to transform theoretical framework and basic model of rural value, establishing a theoretical framework for the integrated assessment of the rural value, we use the method of quantitative selection of test model to assess the value in Chinese rural areas based on the Preliminary theoretical framework, which provides a a new way of thinking for the farmers’ cognition of rural value. This paper aims to analysis of the basic understanding of the modern rural value on farmers by introducing the concept value and value assessment, and analysis the farmers’ basic understanding of modern rural value, building a conceptual model of value and discussing the preference of farmers to rural value from the embedded value perspective:The subject of value includes not only the livelihood value, social value and the unrealized market value of ecosystem services, The value for alleviating poverty, increasing income and improving food security and other aspects of the market value and potential market value, will continue to develop. Finally, We analysis a micro cross section of survey data to examine the factors influencing the rural value, to contribute to rural development and protection through the analysis from the perspective of value in the process of rural development and protection, also providing a theoretical basis for the corrected understanding and decision-making of China’s urbanization. This paper uses a cross section of survey data collected in 2014 to examine the factors influencing the rural value of 131 rural households in three areas of west union Hongqi Brigade, Hainan province, Jinsha village, Shanxi province, Yueyaquan village, Gansu province.30 valid questionnaires were recovered in west union Hongqi Brigade, Hainan province, Jinsha Village, Shanxi province, Yueyaquan village Gansu province in The effective recovery rate of 98.8%. The results of the questionnaire is used to analyze the theory of evaluation and the MNL model, we draw the following conclusions:(1) Rural areas provides a livelihood value, market value, potential value and non market value, which is an integrated value system;(2) Farmers generally agree on the value of rural areas, the rural specific cognitive value has the characteristics of diversity, heterogeneity and dynamic;(3)The key content of rural values includes:the total grain output, rural dependence, collective economic benefits in rural areas, rural education, the number of species of plants and animals and the year of rural environmental quality. From the regression results of MNL model, farmers hold a preference attitude to the change in the value of the rural households, and be willing to contribute to the rural development and protection, and they think the value is mainly manifested in the livelihood level, while the market value, potential value and non market value have no significant effect on the choice of farmers, which means that the rural market value, potential value, non market value to have no effect on whether farmers are willing to support rural value, In addition, farmers’ social economic variables and the relationship between rural farmers support value is not significant.
