With consumers getting the dominant position of market, it makes enterprises change produce mode from inventory production into order production and ready for order production. ATO is one form of order production mode. In the current motorcycle market, customers demand more varieties, small batch products. Consequently, motorcycle manufacturing enterprises select ATO production mode. It is an objective requirement of the market. Enterprises cannot effectively realize BOM configuration and application in the process of ATO production. It is a common problem. This research, mainly from the reality needs of enterprises, in the process of problem solving, through research, induction and summary, eventually form a complete set of solutions.This topic follows certain academic paradigm, firstly explained the research background, expounded the obtained research results on BOM configuration and application, the research contents, methods, significance and innovative points. Followed, enumerated the related theory of ATO and BOM. This part analyzed the types and forms of BOM, configuration rules, and introduced the minimize rules of MPS in the ERP system, as well as time series model, laid a theoretical basis for the later research work. The author summarized the characteristics of China’s motorcycle manufacturing enterprises under the environment of ATO, analyzed the existing problems of BOM configuration and application. Moreover, in the research of motorcycle manufacturing BOM modular configuration method, introduced the concept of super BOM, presented the method of establishing BOM and built the function of modularity, and put forward via the BOM modular configuration, implemented the mixed mode of MRP combined with JIT push-pull promote production. The purpose of building function was: after the corresponding index quantification, through scientific calculation, make the parts modular degree in appropriate range. A suitable range can be described as: local modular < overall modularity < basic proportion. Fit the qualification, can realize enterprise both reduce the workload of BOM configuration, and meet the demand of many varieties, small batch order. In the process of research BOM configuration method under the environment of ATO, modular configuration idea is most important. Second, based on the present situation of motorcycle manufacturing enterprises, and the ATO production, put forward the more effective model of BOM application. In the prediction of demand, emphasized the time series model. Emphasized the combination of functional modules in super BOM configuration, and measured module partition rationality with modular function. Minimized MPS with super BOM. In the production process, with super BOM transforming into product BOM, quickly entered the stage of product assembly, shorten the delivery time.Research work to this stage, has formed a set of complete BOM configuration and application methods, can be summarized as: determine product series, demand forecasting, component module partition, super BOM configuration, minimizing MPS, prepare the parts production plan, form product BOM over module combination. Finally, the author selected A motorcycle co., LTD as the case, through the practical application, verify the rationality of the method.
