As the competition in automobile market is more and more fierce, it isimportant to satisfy diversified needs of customers. The mix production ofmulti-model from multi-platform becomes more and more popular among carmanufacturers, which in the meantime brings a big challenge to the productionmanagement. There are5models from3platforms and2brands being producedinthe same assembly line in Assembly Shop of Car Plant2, FAW-VolkswagenEvery day the production runs according to the fixed plan. In a highly complexsituation, the process, man power, equipment and materials are coordinated to aperfect balance. However, any change of these elements would break thebalance. Parts supply, operation time of workers and equipment are the keyelements in the balance of Assembly Shop in Car Plant2, and different modelsof different brands have different requirements for these elements, which makesprocess planning of mixed production more difficult, therefore changing modelmix and sequence becomes a better way to improve the balance of the assemblyline. This thesis focuses on the problem of production management ofmulti-model from multi-platform in the Assembly Shop of Car Plant2,FAW-Volkswagen. At first, the development and characters of production modesare introduced, including the four stages of production mode development:handmade mode, single-piece small scale production, mass production, flexibleproduction of multiple models in small batches. Then the two most famousproduction modes in the history of automotive manufacture are introduced:production system of Ford and the Toyota. Then the main problems andmethods of production balance and material supply in mixed prod uction areintroduced. The managementstatus and innovation of mixed production in theAssembly Shop of Car Plant2, FAW-Volkswagen are presented next. Then amathematical model of management of mixed production is established, including: a wasted time computing model of all stations, saved time computingmodel of general equipment, computing model of time balance of generalequipmentof partial models and computing model of common parts of cars insequence. Finally, a case will be studied based on the plate skid line of primaryinterior section of the Assembly Shop of Car Plant2, FAW-Volkswagen to showcase the optimization of production scheduling supported by mathematicalmodels and algorithms, and measures taken to ensure the balance of assemblyline.
