Recent years oversea markets have gradually been attached great importance toChinese entities, the competition is heating up. Company A, a typical foreign tradeenterprise undergoing its business transformation to an oversea EPC contractor, is upagainst great challenge. In order to improving project management capability andstimulating competitiveness overseas for enterprises, this thesis deals with projectmanagement team capability evaluation in oversea power plant EPC project, andcomprehends the object from a Competence Theory perspective and with real overseaproject management practices in mind. This thesis is an attempt to establish a teamcompetence evaluation indicator which works for alike oversea power plantconstruction project in EPC mode, and an appropriate project management teamevaluation indicator and appropriate method which reflect the distinguishing featuresof management related general contractors set solid foundation for projectmanagement team capability evaluation and have significant impact on project exploitand performance of management related general contractors.Through project management team capability evaluation study, a team capabilityevaluation indicator and method have been established by this thesis, which fitmanagement related general contractors. Firstly, with a thorough study on Company A,which including overall situation analysis of its oversea EPC projects and particularproject and its management team observation, the thesis brings out the existingproblems challenging Company A and points out the importance of a scientific andsystematic capability evaluation indicator to the improvement of management level asa whole. Secondly, in order to get the in-question team capability evaluation indicator,the thesis manages together methodologies like summary of experience, expertinterview, and project field trip to introduce the first edition indicator to evaluate teamcapability. Then a questionnaire is designed in accordance with former introducedindicator and used to collect relevant data. And lastly, the data is analyzed underFactor Analysis Method, the result of which has been applied to optimize the firstedition indicator of management team capacity evaluation. Seven factors have beenfinally introduced, including faith and initiative, team integration, team collaboration,expertise and experience, resource acquisition, adaptability and learning ability, as well as foundation and procedure. And a more appropriate team capability evaluationindicator has been established accordingly.The indicator brought by this thesis has been put under test in evaluatingCompany A’ overseas EPC projects and the result have been proved in line with theactual. By applying to reality, it is believed that the indicator brought by the thesis canbe considered as qualified to project management team capability evaluation, whichfit company demands.
