After the Third Plenary Session of18th Central Committee, the CCPclarified that the market plays the decisive role in resource allocation. Andthe trend of financial marketization is quite clear, which provides newchallenges and opportunities to the banks’ information transparency. The information disclosure of bank is an important source of informationfor investors, regulators and the public to monitor the risk of banks. Riskmonitoring for banks is an important way to maintain economic stability andprevent risks. That Basel emphasized on standardizing information disclosureprovides China a great reference. Although China is the Basel member, thereis much to be done to fulfill the Committee’s request. This paper investigates and analyzes the information disclosure of16China public banks, according to the questionnaire. According to the results of the study, since2003the information disclosure of China’s banks has madesignificant progress. But the gap of information disclosure between differentkinds of banks is obviously large. Much work is needed to be done toimprove the transparency in the future. The difference on informationtransparency between A/H banks is not so obvious, but the informationdisclosure of H shares is still slightly better than that of A shares. At the same time, this paper combines the results and the trend offinancial marketization after the Third Plenary Session of18th CentralCommittee, analyzes the challenge banks may face, and provides somemeasures to improve information transparency in the future.
