A Study On Influencing Factors Of City Livability Of Xinyang Based On Structural Equation Model

Livability is the most concerned theme of urban residents, but also a long period of highlyregarded academic issues on urban planning. Currently, everyone on the evaluation criteria of livable cityhas yet to reach a unified understanding, so the evaluation criteria which established are different with eachother. This is mainly due to a lack of deep understanding on the connotation of urban livability, having notyet reached a consensus on the various factors which affect the livability, and the size of influence.Therefore, to explore the factors affecting livability of the city is the first step of our study in livable citiesand the most important step.Xinyang, it ranks among the livable cities in the top ten. The ranking of the city has risen everyyear. This phenomenon itself is worthy of attention. So, this paper summarizes the results of various studiesof scholars, starting from the important points and hot spots, making public safety, quality of life,eco-environment, transportation, consumer market and social atmosphere as the six factors which affectingthe livability, building a theoretical model, proposing the corresponding hypothesis. Design a questionnaire,“On Urban Livability Factors Questionnaire in Xinyang”, to make a social survey of the residents’subjective feeling in Xinyang. In order to better combine the subjective and objective evaluation,qualitative and quantitative analysis, this paper introduces an analysis, SEM(structural equation model).Based on the subjective evaluation of urban residents, this paper makes a quantitative analysis of therelationship between urban livability and various influencing factors. Furthermore, this paper put forwardsthe corresponding countermeasures and suggestions based on the analysis.This paper is divided into seven parts for the study of Xinyang livability factors, as follows: Part1: Introduction, main contents of background, purpose and meaning, research methods andtechnology roadmap, chapters’ arrangements, innovation of this study.Part2: summary of research progress of urban livability, comparative analysis of different studiesabroad, a new thinking on urban livability study.Part3: progress of building the theoretical model, including technical support and theoreticalanalysis.Part4: survey of the community, the process of designing the questionnaire, preliminary analysisof the data.Part5: the core of this paper, the use of the SEM analysis, the analysis of the relationshipbetween various factors and urban livability.Part6: corresponding countermeasures and suggestions for Xinyang based on Part5.Part7: conclusions, summarize the research finding, point out the shortcomings and the directionof future research.
