Xinjiang is a major agricultural province, an important grain and cotton base inChina and Xinjiang’s agriculture plays an important role in the economicdevelopment of the country. Before the Republic of China, the overall agriculturalsituation in Xinjiang was inefficient productivity and low crop yields. During theRepublic of China, Xinjiang authorities began to bring in the advanced agriculturaltechnology and related equipment from abroad, so agricultural mechanization inXinjiang began to sprout and it achieved some success. However, since the advancedagricultural techniques were not able to be absorbed and digested essentially and therequired related large and medium-sized machinery could also be self-manufactured,therefore the development of agricultural mechanization was constrained and the greatpotential for agricultural development in Xinjiang did not really play out. After thefounding of New China, agricultural development in Xinjiang ushered in a newhistorical opportunity. Our country energetically advocated to develop agriculturalmechanization and Xinjiang’s agriculture changed dramatically: from a region wherethe original grain, cotton and other crops couldn’t be self-sufficient to an export base, from a place where the level of agricultural mechanization was backward to be one ofthe highest regional level of mechanization in the country, the acreage, yields, qualityof crops ranked in the country. The reason why huge changes of agriculturaldevelopment in Xinjiang has realized is just the development of agriculturalmechanization. The article is divided into five parts. The first part describes the Xinjiangagricultural mechanization’s try in the Republic of China era. The second partdiscusses the reasons for developing Xinjiang agricultural mechanization after thefounding of New China. The third part traces the development process of Xinjiangagricultural mechanization. The fourth part analyzes great achievements whatXinjiang agricultural mechanization development has made after the founding of NewChina from several aspects such as the saving of labor, the improvement of people’sliving standards, the promotion to the industrial production, the support and construction to the mainland and so on. Last part is the conclusion part. By exploringthe reasons, processes, results of the agricultural mechanization development inXinjiang, it summarizes that the development of agricultural mechanization is thefundamental way to agricultural development. If agricultural productivity wants to betruly liberated, the industrialization of agriculture to be truly realized, the fundamentalrole of agriculture in the national economy to be really played, we must take on thefundamental mechanization way. Agricultural mechanization is the fundamentalguarantee of long-term development of agriculture, and summarizing the early days ofthe development of agricultural mechanization in Xinjiang has some reference forXinjiang and other regions for the current agricultural development.
