As the basis of the city industrial economy, transportation plays a very importantrole. While with the rapid development of urban road transport, mastering the factor,which influences city road freight transport services, is significant for predictingquantity of freight traffic of highways in this district, deploying area resources,optimizing industrial structure, improving city transport, improving transportefficiency and avoiding excess production capacity.The common screening methods of freight traffic of highways are vaguecomprehensive evaluation, relevancy analytical method, principal component analysis,and factor analysis. Owing to the optional reference sequence has un-universal rule,strong subjectivity, and large calculated amount, the common screening methods onlyuse the main influence factors, and can’t rank and measure each influence factor.In view of it, this dissertation uses ridge regression method to have second screenfor city road highway freight volume. Then, building up Variable Precision Rough Setto screen residue influence factor, extract main factor and calculate the weightingimportance of each factor. The ridge regression method is easy to carry out thoughSPSS. On the basis of variable precision rough set method has easy calculation, it getsweighting importance of each influence factor so that the reason will be objective andscientific.Firstly, this dissertation summarizes the correlation theory of road transport ofgoods and makes a comparison of the common screen methods that influencehighway freight volume. Taking Chongqing as an example then gets relevant data. Ituses SPSS to get correlation coefficient between primary indexes and has secondscreen and analysis on24highway freight volume influence factors by ridgeregression method, then gets the main9factors.In view of rough set theory has advantage in knowledge, this dissertation raises avariable precision rough set parameter reduction calculation which is on the basis ofequivalence class. It sets those9factors as the parameter of rough set model andcalculates the information content and importance degree of highway freight volumetarget system in Chongqing. It uses Matlab7.0to have attribute reduction and get theweighting importance of the index to highway freight volume in Chongqing. Depending on the size of the value of the weighting importance of Chongqing roadfright, it will obtain4key indexes. They are: proportion of tertiary in GDP, thenumber of truck ownership, total volume of import and export trade, and proportionof freight traffic of highways on freightage volume dose. At the same time, itcombines current situation of Chongqing road transports of goods, and analyzes theresults of screening and ranking.In the end, it tells readers the conclusion and the next research direction.
