The Reading Of The Foregrounding In The Wulian Mountain Scenic Spot In The Perspective Of Semiotics

Symbol is the thing that formed by the established rules, instead of some otherthings and be able to pass certain significance or emotion to others; symbol is themedium of information transfer. There is not any clear significance in the existence ofthe landscape itself, but through these forms, the landscape represents the meaningthat its designer wants to express, and then makes relationships with others, beinglandscape symbol. The meaning that the landscape represents can be produced andcirculated only by language. People endow the landscape with meanings only throughlanguage, and people need to read or interpret these meanings that landscapeconveyed in their mind with the help of language also. Landscape symbols, just likehuman language, can deliver information to the outside world, and show the greatpower of a certain cultural significance and the spirit of the time. Therefore, symbolsystem is not only a comprehensive organization of various external form, but alsothe social and cultural expression system that combining the style and the thoughtbased on some kind of value system.Tourism activity, in terms of its essence, is a kind of pursuit and experience to thesymbol of traveling. Tourism industry is currently booming; but the focus on tourismsymbols from China’s academic circles is not far enough compared to the importancewith itself. For this reason, I take the look to the research of tourism symbols, takingthe Wulian Moutain scenic spot as the research object, and try to use the newperspective-the interpretation of symbols and language symbols,to reveal someregulars in the process of the tourism resource’s foregrounding,and on this basis, toreveal the various problems appeared in the process from the ’back’ to the ’front’.This paper firstly introduces the development of semiotics at home and abroad, andmakes a comb of the evolution of the foregrounding,finding that the research of the tourism semiotics is still in a weak link in the current academic fields. And next, thispaper takes the theory of semiotics as the basis and the linguistic semiotics as themain analysis method, to make a reading of the Wulian Mountain scenic spot. For thefirst is the grammar reading of the foregrounding, to study the structure relationshipamong the landscape elements, including the syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations.For the second is the semantic reading of the foregrounding, to study the symbolmeanings and their types of the Wulian Mountain scenic spot. For the third part is thepragmatic reading, to study the means of the foregrounding and its functions in therelationship between the landscape symbol and its users. Finally, according to theresearch above, I want to find the problems appeared in the process of developing andusing of the foregrounding in the Wulian Mountain scenic spot, and try to solve theproblem with the guidance of semiology methodology.
