| Employee stock ownership is a kind of ownership form in which theemployees of one enterprise serve as a whole to own part of, or the whole ofits stock. In this way, these employees have the enterprise property rights andthey can do the central management through their trust foundation. Theapparition and development of employee stock ownership is one of the mosteye—catching things among all the changes in modern capitalism. In order tostudy its changes and developments, and to explore its future trends, we needto study and analyze western employee stock ownership.Western employee stock ownership depends on many factors. Firstly, thebasic reason lies in that it adapts to the developmental level of capitalismproductivity. Capitalism productivity needs to develop and needs to stimulatemore factors to expand production and improve the level of productivity.Secondly, the improvement of democratization degree provides the conditionfor the development and perfection of capitalism system and the innovation ofemployee management model. The improvement of democratization degreeenhances employees’ sense of belonging and identity to their enterprise, andto some extend, it stimulates employee’s labor enthusiasm. Thirdly, theimmediate cause lies in the widening gap between rich and poor and in theincreasingly sharp traditional labor contradiction. Fourthly, the supporting ofevery country’s government promotes the employee stock ownership todevelop and consolidate. Fifthly, the implementation of employee stockownership is the inevitable requirement of enterprise long-term development.Employee stock ownership has changed the old private stock ownership,which has extended the scope of capital ownership, separated the ownershipand management right. In this way, it shows the tendency of ownershipchange, and added some new contents to capital economics. Being a special stock system form, employee stock ownership makes capital managementright completely change: the capital ownership has been transferred fromcapitalists to the working class. What’s more, it has prepared necessarymaterial base for our future society, which makes it a transition from thecapitalism to future new society.In essence, employee stock ownership does not extend the scope ofcapitalist production relations; it just adapts itself to meet the inner demandsof capitalism’s development. According to its limitations and future tendency,employee stock ownership does not completely change the capitalistproduction system, and the capitalist basic production relations still belong toprivate ownership. Therefore, employee stock ownership does not change thebasic property of capitalism. |
