Research On The Development Strategy Of Grape Industry In Fu’an County Of Fujian Province

Kyoho grape was first introduced to Fu’an county of Fujian Province in1983, since then the planting area of grape has reached50,000Mu, with a grape fruit output of56,000tons, its total value reaches RMB500million. Grape planting has become a key agricultural industry in Fu’an.Based on field investigation, this paper looks into the status quo of grape planting in Fu’an, especially in terms of planting amount, variety mix, cultivation method, regional distribution, profits and the related industrial chain. It turns out that after over30years’development, scale effect emerges, output tends to be stable, bringing a decent profit, the variety mix is improving, along with an increasing technological level, and the industrial chain is shaping. Meanwhile, there’s still room for improvement in this area, especially in aspects of technological application, variety mix, marketing and upgrade of the industrial chain, specifically, steps of cultivation, production and then processing need higher technological level. The variety mix is far from reasonable, i.e., the breed of Kyoho grape takes a major share while the superior breed is insufficient. Marketing is still in a fledging stage. The brand effect is quite faint, branding promotion is lacking. The industrial level of fruit processing is low, concentrated in selling fresh grapes, the fruit processing is sluggish while the wine brewing is just starting.This paper also proposes some strategies and suggestions for further development of grape industry in Fu’an, the variety mix should be improved, there should be more R&D investment, in order to increase the technological level of planting and processing, strengthen marketing and promotion to enhance brand effect, lengthen the industrial chain, developing wine brewing and other related activities.
