The Analysis On Comparative Advantages Of FDI Inflow In Beijing Tianjin And Shanghai

Since the1970s, China has attracted Foreign Direct Investment but the distributionis unbalanced. The majority of FDI inflow into the coastal areas in southeast of Chinaand the west areas has difficulties attracting FDI. For the problem concerning withunbalance, many scholars have analyzed from many aspects such as the level ofmarketization and economy opening、the influence of FDI agglomerating、humanresources、averaging wage and the growing speed of GDP per capital and so on. And theyachieved great goals. Facturally, the unbalanced distribution of FDI appears not only inthese areas have same economic developing level but also in areas have differenteconomic developing level. As China’s top three cities, Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghaihave significant sense in attracting FDI. They are all located in developed areas and theyare all international cities. In the end, they play an important role in their areas’ economydevelopment. In other words, they have little difference, but they have big distance inattracting FDI. The amount of FDI attracting in Shanghai is in top of three. At the sametime the amount of FDI attraction in Beijing in a slow upward trend as a whole. Before2006Beijing is behind of Shanghai, and after2006it is beyond by tianjin. After2006,the speed of Tianjin’s FDI attraction becomes faster and faster. After2010, it has manycommons with Shanghai. And then, Tianjin’s economy developing also becomesstronger and stronger. And I think it has a certain significant for Beijing and Shanghai. Inthis thesis, I analyzed the differences in these eight aspects of FDI inflow in Beijing,Tianjin and Shanghai on the basis of the existing related data and scholars’ thesis.In these determinant factors, which factor has a significant impact in this process inBeijing and other two cities? This thesis selected the data from2002~2012with Beijing,Tianjin and Shanghai data, and made a model analysis. At last, we obtained the results asfollowings: comparative advantage of Beijing to attract foreign direct investment is thehuman capital and open level, and comparative advantage of Tianjin in this process is theeconomy developing level and marketization level, at the same time, the infrastructureand agglomeration economy is the comparative advantage of Shanghai. At the paper’slast is some experienced policies that come up with to Shanghai and other two cities.
