Historical materialism is the major theoretical achievements of Marx, Engels, is animportant of Marxist philosophy, it’s foundation made the sociology rise to science levelfor the first time. Division of labor theory as the central problem of economics, is thekey to understand and study of historical materialism. The aim of thesis lies in trying totrace back to the source, based on studying carefully original works. Both history andlogic are used to deeply analyze the division of labor thought contained in the“Manuscript of Economics and Philosophy in1844”(“Manuscript”)and “theGerman Ideology”(“Ideology”) and internal connections of the two aspects areestablished, to explore the internal relation between them by comparative analysis andresearch. Specifically, in this paper the basic idea is to division of labor concepts forlogic main line, detailed comprehensive and in-depth investigation division of category,whose status and role on the formation of the historical materialism of Marxistphilosophy, to understand the “the analysis of Marx’s division of labor to the aspect ofhistorical materialism made a decisive step” in the meaning of this famously viewpoint,in turn to deepen the understanding of the position of the historical materialism inMarxist philosophy.This paper includes seven parts:The first part is the introduction. Including the background and significance of thistopic’s selection, literature review and research methods in this paper, then emphasis onthe background and significance of this selection. The development history of labors isthe key to understanding all the social history, and the division of labor theory is thefoundation of historical materialism. Inspection labor-category’s role on the formationof the historical materialism in “manuscript” and “Ideology”, to deepen theunderstanding of Marxist theory of division of labor and re-recognition of historicalmaterialism.The second part is the origin of the concept of division of labor. Briefly discussesabout the main idea of the division of labor in the history of Chinese and western,mainly discusses the formation process of Marxist concept of division of labor.The third part mainly interpret the related content division of labor thought of“manuscripts” and “Ideology”. Respectively from on three aspects discusses therelated content in “manuscripts” and “Ideology”, that the relationship between the division of labor and ownership, the division of labor and alienation, division of laborwith productivity and production and so on, detailed and in-depth analysis of thedifference related contents between “manuscripts” and “Ideology”, points out thatMarx, Engels understanding of the division of labor is a deepening process.The fourth part mainly discusses the logic connection of division of labor between“manuscript” and “Ideology”. Point out the former lies in it is a key role in theformation of historical materialism, and the latter is conducive to an objective look atthe present our country reality imbalance between the east and west, urban and ruralareas development in our county, to narrow the gap between two sides, in order toprovide theoretical quittance in building harmonious society.
