China’s total foreign trade has increased steadily, and has become an important import andexport country in the world. China also has an important position in the international division oflabor. Although China is already one of the largest trading nations in the world, it has notbecome a trading powerhouse yet. China’s export products have low value-added export andproducts quality, the marketing network is also not perfect, the lack of independent brands isstill existing. Guangdong Province, China’s largest import and export province, accountingfor more than a quarter of the country’s total imports and exports, these issues are also reflectedin the structure of foreign trade in Guangdong. this paper tries to answer these question: what isthe current structure of foreign trade in Guangdong, what are the specific advantages anddisadvantages, and how to improve the situation.Issues surrounding the structure of foreign trade, domestic and foreign scholars haveconducted a lot of research, this paper sorting through existed research results and compareGuangdong with Jiangsu. We also use indicators to describe the current situation in Guangdong. The result indicates that Guangdong’s foreign trade structure has been some good changes, such as the structure of foreign trade on the market,a large number of private companies asmarket players have joined the ranks of foreign trade,foreign-funded enterprises and state-ownedenterprises on the original main structure of the market has been improved. On foreign tradestructure, increase the proportion of general trade, processing trade accounted decreased, reflecting the international division of labor, the initiative to improve. The commodity structureof foreign trade, exports accounted for electromechanical products and high-tech productsincreased, reflecting the Guangdong high-tech and high value-added products gradually withinternational competitiveness; and formed such as clothing, footwear and electronic equipmentwith export competitive products; while there are also a large number of resource products become net imports, while exports of manufactured goods accordingly, such as imports woodpulp and exports books, import leather export bags and so on.At the same time, there are many areas requiring further attention in foreign trade structure. For example, the total foreign trade structure, the international financial crisis lead to thedecline of Guangdong foreign export growth. On foreign trade, general trade accounted foralthough somewhat improved, but still processing trade. The main structure of foreign trade, private accounting needs further improved. On foreign trade commodity structure of export ofelectromechanical products in Guangdong Although much larger than imports, but requiresophisticated instrumentation manufacturing process is still a net importer, and high-techproducts, net exports in Guangdong entirely on computer and communications technologyproducts, while in high-tech All other aspects of the technology industry, both net imports, and in biotechnology, aerospace technology, competitiveness is low. Reflects on the internalstructure of the Guangdong high-tech products, but also have the space to improve. After studying the status of Guangdong’s economic structure, this paper gives six advicesincluding: targeted to attract foreign investment, foreign capital to achieve transformation andupgrading; actively cultivate local enterprises to achieve industrial transformation and upgradingdynamic localization; actively promote local research institutions and production enterprisescooperation; actively market management, effectively promote industrial restructuring andupgrading; to the ends of chain extending from simple manufacturing; transition from theproduction of ordinary products to the production of high value-added products; foreign tradeservice sector should be increased; actively participate in overseas merger.
