As one of an all-around financial product combining consumption, settlement,credit, financing with other derivative products in21st century, bank card is a productthat is the combination of financial services and modern traditional networkinformation technology and also is the inevitable result of monetary developmentprocess revealed by Marx. Bank card business has become one of the most influentialbusinesses in today’s economy. The bank card business in the United States is goingto be mature. Having issued the first card since1980s, although it has experience therapid development of30years, showing substantial growth of issuance volume,expansion of acceptance market, deepening of penetration, growth of turnover,extension of the industrial chain and other characteristics. China’s bank card businessis still on the growth stage, the size and the overall competitiveness is relatively weak.There is a big gap from the operating environment of mature industries. After Chinesefinancial market is fully open, most of the domestic banks made dual currencycooperation with card organizations VISA, MASTER. It makes the structure of thebank card market complicated, on the other hand it affect the expansion of the bankcard business. Therefore, we sum up experience in domestic and international bankcard business, carefully analyze their gaps, draw on research achievements made bythe development of mature business and this will have great significance onaccelerating the development of China’s commercial bank card business. This thesisfocuses on the study of the entire bank card business. Firstly, it draws on thedevelopment history of America and Korea’s band card business which provide areference value to China’s bank card. Secondly, with anglicizing the current situationof China’s bank card business, it makes analysis on market structure, market shareand market performance by citing fourteen commercial banks representative of thebank card business and offers the ways to expand the business in this environment bylearning the bilateral market theory. Author makes the analysis on SCP frameworkand other theories. Finally, the author thinks that the current environment constructionof china’s bank card is becoming the bottlenecks of industrial updating, which requires the positive cooperation by government, society, market and others inorder to obtain the desired effect and speed up the pace of China’s commercial bankcard business.
