Empirical Research On The Correlation Between Forestry Industrial Cluster And Competitiveness Of Heilongjiang Province

As an important pillar industry of our national economy, Forestry industry playsa vital role in our country economic society and the development of human society. Asa composite industry group, forestry industry’s main features include: wide coverrange, long industry chain, rich variety product. In addition, it has very special andimportant function such as maintaining ecological, promoting employment, drivingincome, flourishing economy and so on. As a powerful province of forestry,Heilongjiang also plays an important role in maintaining ecological security andpromoting economic social development in our country. However, due to manyrestraining factors such as long-term institutional, resources and constitutive propertywere hindered the development of Heilongjiang’s forestry economy, facing the newsituation, solving the problems in the development process has important practicalsignificance to speed up the economic development of forestry in HeilongjiangProvince.Based on the figures from1996to2011and the output value of location entropyand comprehensive competitiveness index, using the method of Granger Causality toexplore the current correlation between the forestry industrial cluster and thecomprehensive competitiveness of Heilongjiang Province, and the main researchcontents and results are as follows:1. Using Location Quotient method to calculateand measure Heilongjiang’s forestry production value by the data of nearly16years,through analyzing the calculation results, the forestry industrial cluster degree ofHeilongjiang Province is higher, and the professional level is strong, the forestproducts and services are appearing output guiding. Both the horizontal comparisonand the longitudinal comparison, forestry in Heilongjiang Province has a higherprofessional level.2. Using the selected20indexes and TOPSIS method to measureHeilongjiang’s forestry comprehensive competitiveness index by the data of nearly16years, the results are appearing smooth and steady rising, these shows that the forestryindustry comprehensive competitiveness level and status are steadily improved.3. Bythe result of two variables’ Granger Causality shows that when the significance levelis5%, lagging behind the third order, the forestry comprehensive competitivenessindex is the Granger reason of forestry production Location Quotient in HeilongjiangProvince, in other word, forestry production location quotient and comprehensivecompetitiveness are existing causal correlation. In finally, we put forward the forestry industry development countermeasures for Heilongjiang Province: establishingsustainable development pattern, enterprise cooperative competition consciousness,forestry product quality assurance, creating product brand, government guidance andpolicy support, etc.
