As an important function of sonar, the underwater acoustic passive localization technology has developed rapidly and used widely in the field of military and civil. In order to improve the system location accuracy, the relevant algorithms of the flexible array passive localization system based on the spherical interpolation method are mainly studied in this paper.Firstly, the basic principle of the spherical interpolation algorithm is introduced, and the error formula of this algorithm is analyzed and deduced theoretically. On this basis, two key factors, the precision of sensor array coordinates and time delay estimation, which affect the algorithm localization accuracy are derived. Then, the correctness of the error formula is validated, the impact on localization results of the two factors and the equivalent relationship between them are analyzed by computer simulation.In order to improve the precision of sensor array coordinates, array measurement algorithm which can real-time acquire the element coordinate of the flexible array is researched in this paper. The sea trial data processing results verify the necessity of array measurement and the effectiveness of the algorithm. The impact of element’s composite structure on the localization results is analyzed by simulation.Due to the multipath effect in shallow water acoustic channels will degrade the performance of time delay estimation, anti-multipath time delay estimation algorithm based on cross-correlation is mainly studied in this paper. With the prediction error filter of liner prediction method pre-processing signals can effectively suppress the multipath components, and then using the cross-correlation method to estimate time delay, the interference peaks are suppressed in the correlation function, time delay estimation accuracy is improved. The anti-multipath principle of signal preprocessing by liner prediction method is analyzed in detail theoretically, at the same time, its inhibitory effect for the multipath components in signals is verified by experiment. Through computer simulation analyzing the time delay estimation performance of this algorithm under the influence of multipath effect.Finally, with the actual flexible array passive localization experiment, sea trial data is processed and analyzed in detail using algorithms researched in this paper. The processing results verify the effectiveness of these algorithms, and they improve the system location accuracy.
