The mobile Ad Hoc network is a multi-hop and autonomous wireless network without central node or fixed base station, composed by a number of mobile nodes with wireless transceiver devices. Every node in Ad Hoc network serves both as terminal node and routing node and broadcasting is a common communication channel among nodes. Due to the limitations on power, storage, computation and communication capabilities of the nodes, it’s a great challenge to ensure the security when nodes are making group communication. A na?ve way to satisfy the security requirement is sharing a secret key among all nodes in the group and subsequently a number of group key agreement protocols have been put forward.Group key agreement means all nodes contribute a part to compute the group key and thus node authentication is a necessary process before participating group key generation. Traditional schemes with authentication using public key infrastructure or identity-based public key cryptography have inevitable drawbacks. Certificate management in PKI is a big trouble for nodes with limit energy and storage in Ad Hoc network and the inherent key escrow property of ID-PKG weakens its security performance. This paper proposes a certificateless authenticated group key agreement in mobile Ad Hoc network. In our protocol, all of the group members are organized in a binary tree attached to the leaf nodes. And we compute the group session key by extending a two-party certificateless key agreement to multi-party key agreement. The protocol provides implicit authentication by using digital signature without computational-heavy pairing operation. Compared with other protocols, our protocol is secure and efficient in computaion and suitable for mobile Ad Hoc network.
