Due to the development of science and technology in recent years, the application of 3D measurement technology has been deep into all aspects of our life. The traditional 3D measurement technology is divided into contact and non-contact. Traditional noncontact measurement has microwave technology, optical technology, and ultrasonic technology.But these methods are expensive, complex and difficult to carry. In view of this paper, a 3D object measurement method based on Kinect is proposed. Firstly, the point cloud information of object is obtained by Kinect device and the mesh information of 3D object is obtained by using the mature software. In this paper, the 3D mesh model is obtained by the 3D mesh model, which can realize the surface distance measurement, the regional area calculation and the regional volume calculation. In this paper, the research mainly based on 3D mesh model, the content of the study are as follows:1. Surface distance measurement of 3D object. Using plane to cut mesh, which generated a lot of line segments, and add all of the line segments, we can get the shortest distance between two points.2. 3D mesh geodesic generation algorithm based on the plane cutting. According to the two feature points on the surface of the model, to determine a cut surface, with cutting plane take cutting target 3 d mesh, starting point and end point between a "most straight geodesic line". Based on the plane cutting.2. Area calculation. By way of human-computer interaction of elected regional feature points, according to the boundary line of this special use of cutting plane method to generate the region of interest and using region growing method to extract the entire region information and topology information, cutting and reconstruction after the boundary, accumulated in the region all the triangles of the area can obtains in the region as a whole area.3. Regional volume measurement. By means of interaction, the region boundary is selected to measure the area, and a closed area is generated, and the volume of the whole sealing surface is generated by integral method.The grid surface points generated by the algorithm in this paper improved the algorithm of plane cutting grid, is proposed based on modified on the surface of the cutting plane cutting algorithm, its main idea is the latest cutting point is obtained by the current constantly amended the current cutting surface normal vector to get the optimal cutting path. Experimental results show the proposed method is effective and reliable.In the end of this paper, a large number of physical experiments are used to verify that the method has good stability, and the error is relatively smaller.
