Software-defined radio(SDR) is a new concept of wireless communication, initially applied in the military. The coexistence of a variety of communication systems in wireless communication, resulting in the sharp competition of various communication standard and limitation of the spectrum resources. Wireless communication equipments based on hardware can not adapt to the current situation, the new concept of software defined radio appeared. It can be reconfigured to suit different operating environments and the users’ requirements, however, the flexibility brings serious security concerns of malicious modification to radio equipment, which can cause harmful interference to other users’ communication. For instance, an application or an illegal user can easily transmit on frequencies outside of the setting range, may damage the devices of software radio. Many chal enges should be solved to ensure the SDR security for communication. In this paper, we present a new architecture of SDR to avoid the configuration parameter being tampered by malicious software, even if the operating system is comprised. We have developed an abstraction for SDR architecture called Security Monitor. It is deployed below the OS and above the hardware monitoring and verification of the radio parameters. In order to demonstrate the feasibility of our system, we created a prototype including a real-time mechanism implementing the roles. Through the experiments, this paper not only design and implement the new architecture of SDR, but also on the analysis of the real-time system’s overhead. And use an effective optimization method to improve the efficiency of the operation of the system, providing a reference for improving the safety and real-time monitor mechanism.
