Research On Configurable Business Process Control Mechanisms For Publish/Subscribe Middleware

As the network and computer application technology become more popular, publish/subscribe (p/s) communication schema gains wide attention thanks to its decoupling characteristics which suit distributed scenario with multiple source nodes and target nodes.However, studies have been focused on the processing of independent messages while little attention has been paid to the relationship between messages in the business process. For this situation, Configurable Business Process Control mechanism for p/s middleware (CBPC) is proposed in this thesis. As long as customized process rules are generated in advance, the CBPC-equipped middleware can then parse the rules into process instances, and check messages according to the instances dynamically. The main contribution lists as below:1. A Business Process definition Meta Model (BPMM) is proposed to standardize the modeling of business processes in topic-based p/s systems. Business Process Description Language (BPDL) is designed based on BPMM. BPDL depicts business processes and can be recorded in configuration files. In this way, it benefits to the flexibility by separating the definition and execution of process.2. Business process control mechanisms are designed to provide p/s distributed systems with a common process control framework. Using the mechanisms, the flowing messages can be dealt with in middleware layer according to their legality. Furthermore, the mechanisms demand no extra requirements from the components. System architecture and essential implementation mechanisms are designed to ensure functionality and minimize performance sacrifice of middleware.3. CBPC is implemented based on information integration management software. Experiments are conducted. Results show CBPC is a suitable solution for business process controlling in p/s systems.
