Study On Processes And Applicability Of BIOS Automatic Test System

BIOS, which is the most direct and the lowest level controller of computer hardware configuration, determines stability and reliability of computer devices. With the rapidly development of complexity and operation ability of hardware, the traditional methodologies of BIOS testing cannot meet the requirements of reliability. Moreover, efficient BIOS automatic test system can not only make devices more robust, but also can make test efficiency, error rate, recall rate, effectiveness of resources etc. Improve significantly. Therefore, it is really meaningful to do research on BIOS automatic testing system.This thesis mainly depends on priority of testing cases for automatic testing system, in order to have a deeply research on the BIOS testing work and valid applicability of that. Firstly, the architecture and several key techniques in such related fields have been introduced. Secondly, a methodology of BIOS automatic testing has been proposed after the study on processes and algorithms of BIOS testing. The section of sorting work of BIOS test cases is the key point of such research. The main research work of such thesis is listed as follow:First and foremost, the mainly sorting architecture of BIOS testing cases is obtained through AHP. In other words, base cases have been firstly ordered through considering of experience of BIOS experts; then new cases should be added and ordered depends on CBR; finally, such order would be modified in order to meet the requirement of real operators.Moreover, this thesis proposes a new methodology which is based on the experience of BIOS experts. The influence among test cases has been investigated firstly; the influence formula of solving a case has been proposed later; finally the BIOS Test case priority based on the relationship of the test influence has been achieved.In addition, the priority method for ordering new test cases is proposed through knowledge of CBR. New cases would seek similar old ones according to description of attributes. Then a new order would be determined depends on the last step.Finally, the order of testing cases must be changes to meet the new demands, special requirements of customers and the needs of the complexity.At last the applicability of BIOS automatic testing system has been studied. The effectiveness of methodology which is proposed in the thesis has been proved through several experiments.
