In order to improve the accuracy of of 3-D visualization construction and enhance the managerial effectiveness of highway construction progress, the Digital Elevation Model DEM is used to construct terrain models. And based on the study of geometrical relationship between roadbed and terrain, the file structure and notation of roadbed and terrain are established. In addition, the fusion algorithm of roadbed and terrain of highway is achieved. Finally, the operating efficiency of some algorithm is compared in this paper.Some research is studied, and the conclusions are:1. The Bowyer-Waston Triangulation method can better establish terrain DEM digital elevation modeling and 3D terrain model, and the draw module of map, terrain, and highways can be established by using the Open GL technology.2. The terrain model is established using segmented approach, and file header, terrain indexes, and client lists and other data formats are builded. In addintion, the file structure and notation of roadbed are constructed.3. Sutherland-Hodgman algorithm is simple to understand and write programs, therefore, this algorithm is the best one to fusion the roadbed and terrain. And according to the topological relationship, four types cases are concluded, and the method of resolution and fusion are proposed,4. The Constrained Delaunay Trangulation and polygon cutting algorithm are established to resolve the fusion of roadbed and terrain of highway. Especially, the good results can be obtained by using the CDT, but the running speed is not as good as polygon cutting method. Therefore, Combining the CDT with polygon cutting, the fusion could be more accuracy and faster.In this paper, the model construction, data representation, drawing, and fusion of roadbed and terrain of highway are studied. We analyzed the performance of every algorithm. Finally, the best fusion algorithm and display method are obtained.
