A Facial Expression Recognition System In The Classroom Environment

Face image recognition in recent years has always been a hot research project, with the increasingly improvement of related algorithms, facial expression recognition algorithm and application environment of the application of research also begin to start. Facial expression recognition gradually began to start application in each domain, but the application in the education teaching is almost a blank, in the past in the field of education teaching focus remains on the modernization of teaching means, and intelligent, there is no any progress, and want to development in intelligent education teaching must to grasp the students’ learning mood, facial expression recognition system can help to solve this problem, so the facial expression recognition system is one of the basis for the development of intelligent education field.The characteristics of the students’ expression in this paper, we study the classroom environment and the characteristics of the system when it is applied in the classroom environment, puts forward a student simplified algorithm of facial expression recognition based on classroom environment. Application system based on the unique environment of common facial expression recognition algorithm is simplified, the main simplified face detection method, the expression of the image acquisition, image preprocessing, image feature extraction and expression classification and so on four big links. Expression image acquisition according to the characteristics of the students face classroom environment, in the face image preprocessing mainly by classroom environment conditions and restraint method of gray-scale normalization, median filtering, facial expression feature extraction mainly adopts currently popular Gabor wavelet transform algorithm, facial expression recognition is also USES the current relatively popular machine learning algorithms of support vector machine(SVM) algorithm. By means of six basic expressions and neutral expression, a total of 7 kinds of eigenvalue extraction, training classifier, by voting for facial expression recognition.In students face recognition algorithm based on the classroom environment, on the basis of in VS2010 Windows platform programming tools combine OpenCV video library and LIB_SVM toolkit, designed and implemented based on students’ classroom environment facial expression recognition system. The system not only has good security and robustness, in its application environment also can well realize the facial expression recognition. For the intelligent software applications in the field of education teaching has demonstrative effect.
