With the rapid development of Internet, existing video surveillance technology are not sufficient to meet the requirement of real-time and portability. With the growth of wireless communications technology such as 4G network, WiFi, and recently popular Android operation system(OS), mobile intelligence video surveillance system(MIVSS) becomes a new solution and being widely developed and adopted.This thesis proposes a mobile intelligent video surveillance system based on Android and embedded technology. The System Based on the traditional c/s construction, MIVSS breaks down the system into two parts: server and client. The server adopt RT5350 chip manufactured by Ralink Technology Corp as hardware platform, using the USB connected camera as video-capture devices. By installing embedded Linux OS on the RT5350 chip, the MJPG-Streamer video server is transplanted. There are three steps to achieve wireless video transmission: firstly, video data are collected by V4L2 port, then a JPEG compression algorithm with high compression ratio and low complexity is used to compress video image, finally video data are transferred into the network by WiFi. At the surveillance client end, we used smart phones with Android OS to achieve mobility.Android client send surveillance request to the server through IP address and port number. The server send back video data after receiving the request and surveillance footage will be displayed on the client device. By adding an algorithm of moving target detection, the alarm at the client end will be set off and invasion images will be stored locally, and the intelligent video surveillance system are accomplished.This thesis completed the design and implementation of an Android OS based intelligent video surveillance system. The results of the system testing experiments indicate that the system can fulfill the requirements of wireless, mobile, and intelligent of a video surveillance system.
