As an important technology of the fifth generation of mobile communication, 60GHz mm-wave(millimeter wave) which has so many advantages such as high frequency, high rate, without permission that get more and more attention. In this paper, we will make analysis and research about 60GHz mm-wave on propagation characteristics, LOS and NLOS transmission mechanism, and the link budget. Then we put forward some valuable results. It is an important reference on 60GHz wireless communication system simulation and design.This paper first introduces the present situation of 60GHz mm-wave wireless transmission development at China and abroad. It leads to the further research on mm-wave propagation characteristics and system design. Second, this paper discusses the characteristics of the mm-wave indoor and outdoor wireless transmission, and analyzes the advantage of mm-wave on short distance high rate transmission. Then this paper introduces the present situation of M2M communication and application prospect Third, we analyze the widely applied situation of LOS desktop environment. If we use ray-tracing model modeling and use the reference antenna to send and receive, how about the received amplitude value and loss will be. Fourth, we analyze indoor NLOS cases. If one wall lies between the transmitter and the receiver, when the door is open or only a gap left, how about the received signal amplitude. We use UTD and heuristic diffraction coefficient calculation method respectively to compare the diffraction field. The results show that the Lubbers’diffraction coefficient is coincident with the experimental data. Finally, under the national emission standards, we make 60GHz link budget, when applying the LOS and NLOS channel models. The conclusion is valuable for practical application.This article did a comprehensive understanding and research about transmission of 60GHz mm-wave wireless channel. It provides reference for the next 60GHz channel modeling and wireless communication system simulation design.
