With the popularity of tablets and smart phones, the mobile traffic grows rapidly. The current radio access network is unable to meet the equire of the new communication mechanism due to the lack of flexibility. Therefore people start to focus on the study of the access network of the 5th generation mobile communication (5G). People also proposed the notion of enhanced shared radio access network and the base station virtualization is one of its key technologies. This paper analyzes the technologies which can support the virtualization of the base station as follows. The Software Defined Network (SDN) decouples control plane and forwarding plane of the network. OpenFlow is the most popular standard of SDN. Network Function Virtualization (NFV) makes network equipment function no longer count on dedicated hardware by decoupling the software and hardware and the abstract of the function of. C-RAN is a green wireless access network architecture which is based on centralized processing, collaborative radio and real-time cloud infrastructure.Based on the above, we design a software defined radio access network architecture to realize the virtualization of the base station. The software defined radio access network architecture consists of three parts:wireless spectrum resource pool, bandwidth based unit pool and SDN controller. Technologies which sustain this architecture include user flow and resource flow, process of packets based on OpenFlow switch, global network view and on-demand slice. This paper also designs the implementation strategies of software defined radio access network architecture which consists of SDN control strategy, virtualization strategy and programmable strategy. This architecture could be better able to achieve the virtualization of base station, and make a variety of formats be effectively fused. To improve the utilization of wireless resources, this paper proposes a scheme of mobility load balancing based on parameter control. This paper designs the system model and the load balancing strategy. By means of MATLAB simulation, we compare the proposed load balancing strategy with the traditional load balancing methods. The proposed load balancing strategy can improve the utilization of the system radio resources because more than one load cell can be choosed to unload the load at the same time.
