In the thermal power plant, as two kinds of the most representative nonlinear systems of the thermal process control system, the control effect of the main steam temperature control system and coordinated control system have an significant impact on the safety, economy, and stable operation of the power plant. Although the thermal contrlo system of the power plant is still dominated by the traditonal PID control, the requirement for control quality is increasingly improved and the requirement in manufacturing is increasingly difficult to be meet by the traditional PID control. Therefore it is urgent to find a new method to improve the control effect of the thermal process at this stage.According to the actual situation of the optimization project North United Power Dalate Power Plant unit 2, the main steam temperature control system and the coordinated control system are selected as the research object in this paper. For the characteristics of large inertia, nonlinear and strong coupling existing in above two kinds of thermal systems, the characteristics of the controlled objects and the situation are analyzed, the algorithm of generalized predictive control is used in the above two systems, the control effect is improved to a certain extent, the control adverse situation of PID control strategy for large inertia, nonlinear and strong coupling system is solved, the control level of the thermal process is improved, the control effect of generalized predictived control is verified by the simulation of Simulink. At the last, for the actual situation of the industrial field, a kind of plug-in operation mode for optimizing control system is proposed, which provides a direction for the practical application of various advanced control strategies in the industrial field.
