In recent decades, the speed of updating automotive products is faster and faster. The automotive industry is under the pressure of reducing time and improving flexibility in manufacturing systems. The planning and carrying out of a new manufacturing system is a huge project. Industrial robot welding production line is a highly flexible automatic production line which can be customized to different processes and divided in different structures. In the designing phase,the manufacturers need to verify the correctness of manufacturing technique, the correctness of planning and the feasibility of the scheme. If these are not verified effectively, they will result in irreparable damage. Automobile manufacturers need to design the scheme again, buy new equipments and restart the project. Even in the wrong line for rectification, this will make the manufacturers spend a lot of costs and delay the production line in operation.In this paper, the object is the industrial robotic welding production line of the automotive industry. We research the engineering design of industrial robots welding system and design the simulation model, build a simulation system, verify the technique, design and optimize the route of robot, generate robot programs automatically, compute the cycle time by using ROBCAD robot offline simulation software. According to the simulation data of ROBCAD, the control program of the production line is designed. In the subsequent implementation of the project, the offline program will be downloaded and this will speed up the progress of commissioning and schedule of production line.
