In recent years, with the rapid development of mobile communication technology, the requirements for the research and development of mobile equipment become higher and higher. MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) technology is able to greatly improve the channel capacity without additional mobile devices and the transmission power.. Therefore it is well accepted for both the widespread 4G commercial(The fourth generation mobile communication system) systems and the next 5G (The fifth generation mobile communication system) systems.This thesis mainly research on MIMO antenna systems designs? which are suitable for the LTE mobile terminal. For MIMO antenna system, miniaturization in antenna unit size, wide bandwidth, high efficiency, high gain are fulfilled. Meanwhile, high isolation and low correlation coefficient between antennas are also realized.This thesis consists of the following aspects:1. Recent researches about the MIMO antenna system design for mobile terminals are introduced.2. Up to 8-element MIMO antenna systems for user equipment applications are introduced. All systems can cover the LTE bands (LTE2300and LTE2500) with high isolation, low correlation coefficient between antenna elements, and high gain and high efficiency can be obtained in these disigns.3. Two MIMO antenna systems which can cover the LTE700 band are presented. The influnces of the plastic case, battery, and LCD screen on system performances are also discussed.
