With the massive popularity of 4th-generation technology, the research of 5th-generation technology has become one of the most advantaged research these years while there is still no international protocol yet. How to design a higher rate and higher capacity with lower energy consumption has become imperative. Subcarrier index modulation OFDM is a recently developed transmission technique with strong ability to against offset, which aroused wide interest from scholars.Based on the analysis of conventional OFDM, this thesis discussed the transmission performance of OFDM-SIM with achievable rate, capacity and BER performance firstly. And then analyzed the system structure, proposed four power allocation algorithms to optimize system performance. Finally, the resource allocation algorithm of single-user and multi-user OFDMA-SIM system were investigated separately. The specific work of this thesis is summarized as follows. To lay a theoretical foundation of the future work, chapter two analyzed the transmission performance of multi-carrier systems. Firstly, this chapter analyzed the mutual information of the finite input signal space in OFDM and OFDM-SIM system. Secondly, the capacity expression of OFDM-SIM system are derived, and compared the differences between OFDM and OFDM-SIM theoretically. At last, the BER performance of OFDM and OFDM-SIM is analyzed and simulated. In the third chapter, the power allocation algorithm of OFDM-SIM system with index modulation fixed is studied. We firstly established a mathematical optimization model, proposed two power allocation algorithms according to the characteristics of system blocks. While considering the cost of system feedback, an algorithm based on limited feedback is proposed to obtain a tradeoff between computational complexity and system resource.Chapter four investigate the subcarrier allocation algorithm of OFDMA-SIM system. We firstly studied the algorithm of single-user system based on optimal BER performance criterion, proposed a low-complexity algorithm to maximize the average minimum Euclidean distance, simulation results and complexity analysis show that the low-complexity algorithm can reduce the complexity greatly while obtain comparatively performance compared to the exhaustive search algorithm. In multi-user system, a system model with power constraint of spectral efficiency optimization is established, and then we simplified the capacity expression, proposed a block based resource allocation algorithmChapter five concludes the thesis and indicates some possible areas for future research.
